Hello,

You appear to be very knowledgeable and I noticed your name appear many times in the chat forum. I was wondering what advice or direction you could offer to help me solve my delimma.

I’ve hit a brick wall with my great grandfather Peter Hawko. He was born in Chapel’s Cove about 1852 and married Margaret Murphy January 1877. They had several children one being my grandfather John Hawco born March 1888. I can’t connect Peter Hawko to his relatives because his birth records were burned in the Catholic Church fire of the 1800s. There is a possibility that Peter had a brother Thomas Hawko who married Mary Murray. That’s all I have on Peter's Possible siblings. I need the names of Peter’s parents and siblings to trace our roots back to Jersey, Channel Islands.

Thank you!

Dear Josephine Hawko, I am afraid that I do not have any information on this family line emanating from Chapels Cove, Harbour Main, CBN. I no longer conduct primary archival research on NL genealogy-family history. My research focus was NL Mc-Mont and Piper's Hole Ethnohistory, and all of this was submitted to NL GB Message Board from 2015-17...I haven't been to PANL-The Rooms since 2008-09, and I have no intentions of revisisting there any time soon, as my commitments now are focused on working in the construction industry. Whatever information that I could find on the Hawko/Hawco (Fr Jer Hacquoil) patriline was posted here on the Message Board under Williams query heading. However, I do find this family line very interesting and I myself have two Hawco ancestors in my immediate family tree-but there is very little information out there on them. I hope this helps, but I sincerely regret that I do not know more. If I did have anything more than you I would freely and wholeheartedly share this information. I sincerely wish you the best in your archival and on-line genealogical research.
