Hi Everyone, I thought I would introduce myself. I began researching my mom's family history about a year ago. My mother was the result of a short-lived relationship between my grandma and my mother's father. My mom never met the man and my grandma never had contact with him after my mother was born. All we ever really knew about him was his name and that he was from Canada. After having my DNA tested and finding relatives I learned that my grandfather was born in Ship Cove, Newfoundland in 1916, and that he moved to Michigan sometime around 1960. I have been writing back and forth with one of my newly discovered second cousins who still lives in Newfoundland, and I have learned a lot of information from her. Some of my research led me to this website. I must say, there is a goldmine of information here. I joined the forum because I realized it will likely be helpful to connect with other members to try and learn details I am having trouble finding myself. I look forward to working with some of you. |
