Hi my name is Christine nee Long. I am new to this board but not new to genealogy and searching my lines. I started a very long time ago but then took a break because of dead end and life. I have been back at it for over a year now.My grandfather was James Long born in Open Hall, Newfoundland. I am hoping that I might be able to brake down some walls with this site. I have done my DNA anf I am on GEDmatch and Family Tree. So I am hopeful for some matches on my grandfather's line. My grandfather was the son of William Long and Margaret Joy. I am really stuck on my 3x greatgrandfather James Long nee Furlong born about 1808 in Wexford County Ireland. SURNAME in my line are Long, Joy, Ducey, Honeyburn, Miles,Ryan, Murphy, Gold, Hancock, Alyward .. Lanes and Moss married into the line as well. I also am willing to help anyone if I am able.

Hi Christine. I’m also working on Long ancestry from King’s Cove & Open Hall. My ancestor’s name was Edward Long b. about 1846. I have searched through all of the C of E records & the RC records that were available at PANL. I’m still unable to find a record of his birth. His parents & siblings apparently were C of E , then they became RC. I really don’t know where to search next. Edward Long moved to St. John’s, married & died in 1906.

Hi,
I have a Arthur T Long that married Martha Wyatt in St Johns 1904. W.J. Long was listed in marriage announcement. The wedding announcement did not say the relationship. I have Arthur born circa 1882. I cannot find any info on W.J or Arthur after this.

Hi I will say my great grandfather was William Joseph Long born 1881 from Open Hall. He moved down to Boston in the 1920s think 1923 ( that off the top of my head) .. So that would be a WJ Long ..
