Hello everyone, I am a complete newbie here and to genealogy. My name is Lisa Sterzer but my maiden name was Caines From Deer Lake Newfoundland. I actually started to get interested in all of this when my daughters class had to do a project on a relative that immigrated into Canada! We decided to use my Grandmother Renee Caines (Campbell) who immigrated in 1949 when Newfoundland became a part of Canada. I am looking to speck with anyone who has any info on these families, Harvey Caines and Renee Caines maiden name Campbell both from Deer Lake. Or even Any tips on how to get started without spending a fortune on those sites! lol ;)

Hello,
Sadly one of the best places to start a family research project is looking for an obituary. They have a wealth of info on past and current relatives.
There is an obituary posted on this genealogy site for Harvey Richard Caines who died Jan. 2008. Here is the link to that page. The names are in alphabetical order, so just scroll down to the "C's"
