I just returned to Southern California from a two week trip to Newfoundland to visit relatives there with my three daughters and was there in 1982 with my father Alexander Stapleton. Have been continually working on adding family history and information and look forward to connecting with others here.

Shawn,
My father was born in Marystown and has relatives there and around the island. Powers and Walsh families were marriage connections with the Stapleton's and the Duceys (my Grandmother)

I am new to group. Have Walsh's on my mother's side of the family. She was Elizabeth Anna Walsh. Her mother was Cecilia Downey and her Dad was John Walsh listed as a fisherman. His grandfather was Patrick Walsh, married to Jane Philpott. He is listed as a planter.

Hello Shawn,
While visiting Newfoundland, I was guided through a cemetery in Open Hall on the Bonavista peninsula. I, too, am in search of Walsh's. I found, at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, a number of Walsh's. I have a list of Walsh's from Port Union, given to me by the archivist at the Bonavista town hall. I was also told by someone in Tilting, that those Walsh's were from Waterford, Ireland.

Any connections?

Thanks - Christina
