Hi Friends in Newfoundland!

I am descended from long lines of Carberrys and Hiscocks in NF. My paternal grandfather was a Welsh quarry man who came to NF around 1900 and married my Grandmother, a Carberry. They moved to upstate NY to follow slate mining jobs, and settled in Granville, NY. My father was born in Granville and met my mother in Niagara Falls at the end of WWII. I now live in Fairport, NY. My wife and I visited NF last summer, where a first cousin of my father's still lives in St. John's. I loved it up there and felt like I had come home! I will be looking for threads of my ancestry in NF and planning a return trip in the next couple of years. Hope to make some friends on this site and maybe even meet some of you one day.

My grandmother Catherine Carberry married my grandfather Thomas Galway (Galloway) dob 1866 in St.Johns. Catherine had one brother Michael who had a house on Kings Bridge Rd across from Kings Bridge Service Station. Any info on this part of my family would be apprecaited. Thanks
