I have been researching my Jackman ancestors for some years now and have recently discovered that my 3xgt grandfather Francis Jackman, died at sea on 29th January 1825 and was buried at St Paul's, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland on 31st January 1825. His son my 2xgt grandfather (born Greenwich 1824) Francis James Jackman was orphaned and was educated at the Greenwich Hospital School (Greenwich, London UK) from 1831. He was a cabinet case maker who subsequently lived in Sheffield, Yorkshire UK, where he died aged 58. I would like to know if there is a gravestone for Francis Jackman in the graveyard at St Paul's, Trinity Bay? He was a cook on the Surveying & Exploratory Ship : HMS Snap and was 48 when he died. :)

Good morning

There is a transcription of the headstones found in the St. Paul's Churchyard on this site.

On the home page, click on Cemeteries, then go to the Trinity Bay District and then to the St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery. All of the cemeteries in Trinity are posted on the site.

PS: My wife's ancestor has a headstone in the cemetery as well. <grin>
