hi, I am Margaret Hodgkins from Staffordshire, England. My great-uncle is buried in France with a soldier from the Ist Battalion Royal Newfoundland Regiment. In this centenary year I am trying to find any living relatives who may be interested to know a little of the Englishman the Newfoundland soldier is buried with. My research tells me that Richard Joseph Maddigan died at the Somme aged 19 on 1st July 1914. He was the son of Richard and Ellen Maddigan of Water Street West St John's and had a brother John. I really hope I can get a lead from this site even if it is to say the family are not interested.
