Hi, My name is David Crocker. When I was a child, I spent most of my summers in Newfoundland. I had an Aunt Elexey and Uncle Fred that lived it Carbonear. I also had another Aunt Mable, she lived in Perry's Cove about 30 min drive from Carbonear. My Grandparents in Perry's Cove were Zipporah and George Parsons. Most of the time while in Newfoundland I spent my summers with my Aunt Mable. She had 7 children and one more wasn't going to make a difference. The time period for this would be in the 50's and early 60's. I would also travel to Heart's Delight to see my fathers side of the family, the Crockers. My grandparents name where Emily and Samual Crocker, they lived on "Crocker's Hill". I had many Uncles, Aunts and cousins that lived in Heart's Delight. Would like any stories or information about either side of the family.
Thanks, David Crocker

Hi David, Your story sounds much like my own, except I went to my Grandparents in Salmon Cove. I did however have close ties with Perry's Cove. My grandmother was a Kelloway from there and I had a Great-aunt Mable with a large family who lived there too. But they can't be the same person, My Aunt Mable was a Kelloway. Please let me know if by chance there is any connection. Eileen

Well there may be a connection. My Aunt Mable was a Kelloway, but by marrriage. She was married to a James Kelloway that was killed at the Bell Island mines in 1959. Aunt Mable had I believe 7 children. There was Herbert, Emmie, Peter, George Robert, Patricia (Patsy), Darline and Glynis. Darline married a John Kelloway from Salmon Cove and Emmie also married a Parsons (Willis) that lived up on Parsons Hill in Salmon Cove. later on Aunt Mable had a house on the main road that went threw Victoria. You had to go right by her house if you were traveling from Carbonear to Salmon Cove. Glynis married a guy from Salmon Cove as well. Small world.

We have the same Aunt Mable. Uncle Jim was my Grandmothers Brother. She was Mildred Kelloway (m John Hayward Penney) of Salmon Cove. His ggGrandmother was Mary Amelia Parsons (m Richard Penney). She was the daughter of Wm Parsons of S.C.and Ann (Rose) of M.F. I guess every family in the area is connected in one way or another. Eileen

PS Did aunt Mable have a daughter named Zelma (between Patsy and Darlene)? And do you know your Grandmother Zipporah's maiden name?
Thanks Eileen

Hi David and Eileen,
I was interested in knowing Zipporah's maiden name and parents names if known. Also her aprox birth, marriage and death dates. I have a John Hussey b 1804 died May 1779 married Zipporah Labrador b Abt 1720 d Jun 27/1779. They had a dau Zipporah Hussey b Jun 29/1760 who married Thomas Janes b Abt 1758. They may have had a daughter Zipporah Janes b ABt 1815. Wondering if there is a connection, would like any info. Thanks Lloyd email me lloydandella@eastlink.ca
