Newfoundland's Grand Banks Message Board

I am looking for information on my fathers family. His father was Stephen Buckland and his mothers first name was Louisa (maby Anderson or Maby MacDonald. They lived in Burgeo and I believe Stephen my grandfather died in 1930. My father is Hartley Buckland and is now deceased leaving behind no answers. I would appreciate any info on this family.

Sharon, I'm not sure if this is helpful...but here is a link that will open the provincial death record for Stephen Buckland. At least it gives you an exact date of death. There is something about looking at an an old hand written document that gives a sense of a life lived in the past...even if it's a death record. He is on line #11.

the first Buckland to arrive in Ramea was William Buckland with his wife sarah Collier William was born 1821 died 1911 married in 1857 to Sarah born 1826 widow at the time and died 1911 children: George Charles b1863 d1884 , Sarah Jane b 1865 married John MacDonald of Cul de Sac West NL in 1884, Rosanna b 1868 married Peter Benoit of Burgeo NL in 1891

After 1871 the Buckland did not appear in any directory for Ramea. The previously came from Lower Burgeo. This info came from the Ramea's Family Tree by Victor G Kendall and Victor Kendall dated 1995
