Good day Folks, I'm New to the forum and would like to introduce myself. I am Johnathan Raymond Reid of North Sydney. I am related to the surnames listed in the subject line and will be researching each individually as time goes by. Hope I may get through some of the closed doors I have in front of me and I'm willing to help out fellow members anyway I can.
Thank You
J.R. Reid

I've not been able to find out much myself I have a Sarah (Sadie) E Hurd from an unknown part of Newfoundland born Mar 11 1877 arrived in North Sydney abt 1895 daughter of John Hurd and Sarah Emma Strickland. John was a carpenter. Where in Newfoundland are your family from?

There are Family Names Penny, Strickland, Dollimount and Kendall listed in "Ramea's Family Tree" by Victor G and Victor Kendall. It is a limited edition book listing all or most of the families who lived in Ramea, Ramea Island, NFLD from early 1800's to aprox. 1970. I have a copy, if you email me at hatcher.cameron@gmail.com with some names I might be able to help.

NSReid,

Is this lady one of yours?
Juanita MacDonald Sarah Elizabeth "Sadie" Campbell – Born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late William and Suzannah (Carrol) Reid.

I came across her obituary when searching Campbell relatives. However, since you're in North Sydney, likely you would have already found the Jan '95 notice.

Just thought I'd ask to be sure. :-)

Cheers
J

Hi there
I am also related to penny from North Sydney, my mother was born there. Her parents came from Newfoundland. I have names and some dates.
Maybe there is a connection.
How do we find out?

Regards
Alice

I too, find a fit within this, as my line goes back to:

WILLIAM  JAMES  REID – son of – JOHN  &  LEAH  REID – of – GREEN’S  HR., BORN ON  SEPT 20, 1881.  BAPTIZED  OCT 29, 1881.
JOSEPHINE  PENNY – daughter of – WILLIAM  &  MARIA  PENNY –of – GREEN’S  HR.,(NO BIRTHDATE  VISIBLE).  BAPTIZED  MARCH  10,1883.

This is as far as I've been able to go; family lore has it that we go back to Aberdeen.

Any help is appreciated

John E. Reid, Montreal
