Port Blanford

Port Blanford was named after Capt. Darius Blanford, master of the bay steamer SS Dundee. (s: Geoff Martin)

Located in Clode Sound, the community was once known simply by that name, Clode Sound. With the adjacent small settlement of Birchy Point, it developed as the hamlets of Southwest River, Middle Brook, and Northwest River, the three streams flowing into Clode Sound. These gradually grew together and the community was named Port Blandford. (s: Bruce Hynes)
